Arsenal slips up again in 2-1 loss at Brighton
Arsenal’s season continued to unravel as they were deservedly beaten by an impressive Brighton side at the AMEX Stadium on Sunday.
– Chris Hughton is only the third manager to beat Arsene Wenger in the Premier League with three different clubs (after Mark Hughes and Sam Allardyce).
“So, so much better, so much more than we saw from Chelsea tonight”. “We need four victories to be champions, it is in our hands and if our behaviour is like today we will be champions”.
Wenger has drawn widespread criticism from supporters and pundits as Arsenal lie sixth in the table on 45 points, a staggering 30 points behind league leaders Manchester City after 28 matches.
“We know that sometimes when you go out on to the pitch things don’t go right but at least you can show willing and I’m afraid a few of the players didn’t look like that”. “What can I say?”
After back-to-back limp displays against City in both the Carabao Cup final and the Premier League, the calls for Arsene Wenger to be relieved of his duties are deafening.
“It is important to recover mentally and physically, we are still jaded today, we gave a lot on Thursday night and you can see that today”. If you are looking for a theme, it is that they are all battling relegation.
Nearly at the stroke, he rolled into a follow up sentence with the confession: “I’ve never lost this many games on the trot”. “I believe in the quality of the manager in a crisis, and I believe I can do this”.
As the pressure intensifies on Wenger, Arsenal great Thierry Henry insists he has never backed away from a challenge after being asked if he would be prepared to take over from Wenger at Arsenal.
It is not the first time that Mkhitaryan’s form has tailed off after showing promise.
Aubameyang scored and the second-half performance was nowhere near as bad as the first, but deriving positives from the current situation is a fruitless exercise.
“In the second half, it was all us”.
And he launched into a slightly puzzling metaphor about being undressed – as his defence certainly was at times by Brighton’s swift counter-attacks – which seemed to mean ‘Don’t kick a man when he is down’.
Bro just STFU. You make a mistake every game and then come out and apologise.
“But when you are naked completely you have to find the shirt to try to put it on again and dress normal again”.
