Arsenal teen star Alex Iwobi signs new long-term contract
Iwobi, who has represented England at youth level, is now in Belgium training with the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the friendlies against DR Congo and Cameroon.
“Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Alex on his new contract and we look forward to his continued progression in the season ahead”. “Alex is looking forward to working with Oliseh and is happy with his decision to play for the country of his birth and has the full support of the family”, Iwobi senior told SportingLife yesterday.
Iwobi’s father Chuka has revealed that his son is keen to leave Arsenal on a temporary basis in order to play regularly, but Wenger is yet to sanction the move.
Nigerian worldwide Alex Iwobi has signed a new long term deal at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal Football Club has confirmed.
The 19-year-old, who is the nephew of Jay Jay Okocha, has starred for the club’s Under-21 side and even scored for the first team against Lyon at the Emirates Cup during the summer.
The 19-year-old has yet to make a competitive first team appearance for The Gunners, but has been an integral member of their under-21 side (via Express).
“But Arsene Wenger wants him to be with the first team because he did very well in pre-season”.
