Arsenal transfer boost as January target Nolito reveals Celta Vigo contract
In-demand Celta Vigo striker Nolito has revealed that he will not be signing a contract extension, amid speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.
Celta Vigo’s highly sought-after striker Nolito has confirmed he will not sign a new deal with the club until “a detail” is resolved, as per the London Evening Standard.
Arsenal have not exactly been short of goals this season, but Nolito’s performances – the Spain global impressed heavily against England last week – has prompted Wenger to assess a move.
Asked about why he has not renewed with Celta, he replied: “There is a detail that is not resolved and while it is not settled, I will not sign”.
The Spain global is tied to his current employers until the end of the 2019 season, though Celta’s concern is that the player’s current buyout figure stands at €18 million.
“I’ll re-sign when the time is right, when this detail is resolved”.
But the striker, who was a regular for Barcelona’s reserve team early in his career, has no immediate designs on a return to the Nou Camp, or anywhere else.
It is claimed that Arsenal are ready to meet Nolito’s £12.6million buy-out clause, though if Barca also match that price it will ultimately be up to the player to decide which club he joins.
‘No more [on this matter]. I want to be quiet. No one has called me, or, to my knowledge, Celta either’.
