Arsenal transfer news: Gedion Zelalem ‘set for loan move to Rangers’
Rangers are set to agree a loan deal with Arsenal for midfielder Gedion Zelalem.
Record Sport can reveal the 18-year-old flew into Glasgow this afternoon and was whisked straight to the championship club’s Murray Park training complex for face-to-face signing talks with manager Mark Warburton which will continue throughout the afternoon.
Zelalem would join Tottenham loanees Nathan Oduwa and Dominic Ball, who are both on similar deals at Ibrox.
While he is yet to make his senior debut for the Gunners, Zelalem is highly rated and thought to be a potential star of the future.
He has been included in the first-team squad on a number of occasions and took part in the club’s pre-season tour this summer. If a loan move is completed, having first team minutes under his belt can only help his form for that tournament that starts on October 1. Born in Berlin to Ethiopian parents, his parents hold US residency and he was recently granted permission by Federation Internationale de Football Association to play for the American national team.
He represented the States at the Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand in June after Federation Internationale de Football Association had cleared him to switch nationalities.
