Embolo fell short of bringing FC Basel to the Champions League, but his potential is through the roof.

According to the Daily Express, Arsenal are preparing to hijack Tottenham’s transfer move for Basel striker Breel Embolo.

The 18-year-old forward, who produced impressive performance last season by scoring 11 goals in 36 appearances for Swiss outfit FC Basel, was tracked by Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino during the summer transfer window.

However, it looks like Spurs may now face stiff competition from their North London rivals as the newspaper is citing reports coming out of Italy that suggest Arsenal have now joined the race for Embolo’s signature.

Arsenal were hoping to land Karim Benzema in the final weeks of the transfer window, but in the final days, the Real Madrid superstar openly announced he would be staying in Spain no matter what.

Embolo is in line to feature for Switzerland at Wembley on Tuesday in a Euro 2016 qualifier against England.
