Arsenal vs Leicester City 14 Feb 2016: EPL Preview and Predictions
Arsene Wenger has urged Leicester City and Arsenal fans to abandon a planned protest at Sunday’s Premier League match between the title rivals, saying they should not miss the “moment of happiness” that football brings. We have pressure for our little gap, Arsenal has more pressure because they have spent more money.
“I think the biggest pressure in our job is to play games without pressure”.
He told Omnisport: “I met him last summer, I had a chat with him. Nobody wake us up please”.
Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri spoke of a calmness in his team after a 3-1 win over Man City.
And with Leicester sitting pretty at the top of the pile ahead of Sunday’s trip to Arsenal, he took the opportunity to cash in on their success, winning £1,100 in the process, reported the Mirror.
But Wenger, whose side remain in the FA Cup – looking to win it for a third straight year – and have a Champions League last-16 clash with Barcelona on the horizon, believes too much time thinking about upcoming fixtures could be detrimental to a team.
Tottenham are in the best position to challenge for the title they’ve been in for some time. Leicester are quality and for some reason the odd makers are not getting this so I am going to go with them as my pick for this game.
Manchester United manger Louis van Gaal believes Leicester City can win the Barclays Premier League this season. I know there are so many points to win. If they hold on to claim the title, it would be the biggest upset in sports history, according to William Hill press officer Joe Crilly.
Arsenal have already beaten Leicester once this season – a 5-2 hammering at the King Power Stadium in September.
Arsenal could welcome back some much needed firepower up front as Danny Welbeck looks likely to feature after a 10 month absence with a knee injury.
Faced with the threat of Jamie Vardy’s searing pace, Wenger may persevere with the centre-back pairing of Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel, rather than recall the ponderous Per Mertesacker.
“Schlupp is starting work outside with us”.
Wenger also feels any similar fan protest during Sunday’s game would not affect his side – with many suggesting Liverpool’s players negatively reacted to the mass Anfield walk-out as they let a two-goal lead slip.
“They had a decisive test against Liverpool and City”, he said.
But Leicester’s emergence as the new darlings of British sport has had some unwelcome ramifications for their supporters.
“In the last week, they’ve become a solid contender for the Premier League with two positive results”.
