Arsene Wenger claims Norwich’s Ryan Bennett ‘could have killed’ Alexis Sanchez
The Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is set to miss at least three months with the knee ligament injury he suffered in the 1-1 draw at Norwich City and there are fears he could be absent for even longer.
Manager Arsene Wenger on Thursday said he did not know the exact prognosis for the pair, but Press Association Sport understands playmaker Cazorla’s ailment is more long-term than forward Sanchez’s hamstring problem.
The manager, for instance, has lost seven Premier League games in a row against Arsenal and hasn’t tasted a triumph since May, 2010.
Wenger also said Alexis Sanchez, who injured his hamstring against Norwich, had returned to Chile to begin rehabilitation.
“My phone is busy every day from people who propose players, but we have a team inside our club who select what is coming in”.
“Nobody suggested that he could displace his back or his hamstring”. We have been hit hard by injuries this season but it gives players the opportunities to take.
“I think it’s going to be massive”.
Wenger says there are a number of factors that cause injuries in modern football.
‘When he was pushed into the boards on the side of the field that did not shock anybody, the injury can come from that as well’.
So the Frenchman has nothing to feel bad about and it is up to Ramsey to prove his value in that position now the Cazorla injury has given him a chance, as Wenger explained in an interview on the Arsenal website.
Cazorla has already seen a specialist in London but has now flown to Spain to seek advice from Ramon Cugat, the Barcelona-based knee surgeon. The guy said: ‘Look, it’s a clear case.
Wenger added: “We will make a decision on Saturday on Koscielny and Walcott, they could both make the squad”.
Bennett saw fit to apologise to Piers Morgan over the incident, which tells you everything you need to know about the Norwich player. He might have a capsular problem as well, but I don’t know for how long he will be out.
“You lose confidence in your body”.
“But I like to laugh when I am with my friends and to let my humorous side reign free, something that I obviously can not do in front of the media”.
