Arsene Wenger gets more respect than me, says Jose Mourinho
Manchester United host fourth-placed Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Premier League champions head to Watford just two points above the relegation zone, having lost at home to West Bromwich Albion in the last game before the global break.
This one promises to be another low scoring game, as Mourinho often settles for ties against strongly offensive contending teams (remember that awfully boring game at Anfield), so a clean sheet from the best goalkeeper in the league will definitely earn you some nice points.
“I think this is the biggest test for Arsenal so far this season”, added Neville who is one of the co-owners of minor league club Salford City along with United team mates from the “Class of 92”, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and brother Gary Neville.
Arsene Wenger’s recent signings have strengthened Arsenal to the point where they look capable of mounting a serious title challenge. We know the distance tomorrow can be three, six or nine and obviously nine would be bad, and three would be flawless.
“You know, we didn’t lose always”, Wenger said.
“I remember a 2-0 win (in October 2004) where we stopped Arsenal going 50 league matches unbeaten and that was pretty special”.
“Every match is an isolated event – it has nothing to do with now”, he said. My players when they go there belong to the national team and I don’t like to comment.
“The record of any other manager being good or bad, it is about what you get globally as a team – our results”.
“Some records are better than others”, he told reporters at United’s training base in Carrington, west of Manchester.
But the stakes appear to be higher for Arsenal than they are for United, who must already know that the title is beyond their grasp this season.
“Everything was bigger in that period and it has kept on for the last 15 or 20 years”.
“So overall, on top of that, I think that is really the key game, it was a key game for us and that is where we did not respond with the quality of performance on the day”. For that reason I think who scores first is massive. The absences of Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling meant that they fielded a patched-up defence, which came through adverse circumstances, so those at the back of the field should take heart from that.
“Feyenoord is crucial – we can not lose the match or we are out of the Europa League”, Mourinho added. Tomorrow, I think between the two managers we are speaking about, I think, six or seven Premier League titles.
“I am not saying that I will be successful on that, and I am not being critic with Gary and with anyone”. “Maybe I put the level so high that people doesn’t expect different than that”. Arsenal thought they could turn up in February and win, and ended up getting beaten 3-2.
