Arsene Wenger grumbles about ‘world class’ Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil
Arsenal’s monumental, rejuvenating 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League group stages on Tuesday night came with a price.
Both Ramsey and Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, himself carrying an injury concern, scored in the match, before which qualification for the Euro 2016 finals was already secured.
Arsene Wenger is confident a more mature Arsenal side can now handle the pressure in the Barclays Premier League title race, led by Mesut Ozil in his “golden age”.
Wenger said after the game that Ramsey was “very down” after realising the injury was “quite a tough one”, and the Gunners boss has now ruled the midfielder out until after the worldwide break in mid-November. “With the (last) global break, the fact that he played against Andorra certainly cost Bale and him as well”.
Wenger is now urging the German star to find the back of the net more but we all know that is not his main attributes.
The Belgian faced Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham twice last season and failed to net a single goal in these 12 fixtures.
Walcott was on the bench and did not come on. “In the first two games [against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos] we weren’t at our level of focus because we were focusing on the Premier League; so we knew that we needed to deliver a similar performance in order to beat Bayern”.
“It’s always hard because they are two top players for me”, Wenger said. People reproached us many times: “‘okay, Arsenal play football, but they are a bit fragile.’ Before, maybe, when we were not dominating completely the game, we were a bit insecure”.
“He’s out yes”, Wenger had said.
Theo Walcott will continue to start despite Giroud’s impact on Tuesday.
“The most important thing is [the strikers] contribute goals”.
Centre-back Gabriel is available again following illness, but captain Mikel Arteta (ankle) misses out against his former club.
Arsenal can improve their contenders status in the Premier League by reaching the top spot by getting a result against Everton at the Emirates this Saturday on NBC as the lunchtime game for us here in the United States.
Welbeck has also been out since the end of last season with a knee injury and he will not recover in the near future, while Czech midfielder Rosicky is also having knee trouble.
