Arsene Wenger hits out at Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola
Guardiola recently announced his decision to leave German giants Bayern Munich, having had an exceptionally successful reign with the club.
‘That’s not what City need at the moment’.
City have now dropped down to second-favourites behind Arsenal with the bookies, sitting six points behind leaders Leicester and four behind the Gunners and showing one of the poorest defences in the league without the injury-hit Vincent Kompany. It adds that the executive duo of CEO Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain have been responsible for attempting to recruit Guardiola.
Axed manager Jose Mourinho earned approximately $34m AUS (£16.5m) every year whilst at Chelsea, with Bild – and the Daily Mail – asserting that Guardiola could expect to receive even more. For a club fixated on amassing commercially appealing players, who better to occupy the dugout than one of its biggest characters who brings a track record of glory?
“If they do they are not professional players, they are not top players”. I don’t have worries about my future.
“We must improve because we are conceding too many goals”, Pellegrini, whose side have only kept two clean sheets in their last 12 Premier League games, said.
“Of course, that makes it worse because I think we did better than Arsenal”.
Pellegrini has not discussed the Guardiola situation directly with the club’s owners, though he is confident they will keep him abreast of any important news.
Wilfried Bony said he was disappointed to have been dropped for Monday’s 2-1 defeat at Arsenal, intimating that it was wrong Sergio Aguero came in for him given the Argentinian had been sidelined for some time with an injury.
When asked whether he deserved to be playing more regularly, the former Swansea man answered: ‘I think so’.
He said: “He will not play maybe the 90 minutes for three or four games. I will continue to work hard and think about the next game, prepare very well then it will depend on the coach who he is going to put in”.
