Arsene Wenger Refusing to Give Up on Injury-Stricken Jack Wilshere
Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil celebrates scoring the second goal against Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium, November 28, 2015.
“If Ozil continues to sparkle when it matters in the next 19 fixtures – there is a feeling in Germany that he doesn’t always produce in big matches – and inspires Wenger’s squad to their first Premier League title since 2004, it would make him a legend in the eyes of Arsenal fans”, Carragher continued.
Wenger has confessed that he is trying to give Ozil as much protection as possible to avoid losing the World Cup victor to injury. “At the moment he doesn’t practise a lot, we rest him a lot between the games”.
‘He is a guy who, once the basic fitness is there between the games, he wants to play. “There are types of players, sometimes the most technical players, it looks like it demands less energy for them to play”.
Ozil is in such good form that his boss fears the consequences of benching him for his table-topping side’s title tilt.
When asked if Ozil has been the best player in the top flight this season, Walcott was adamant with his response.
City’s travails have given hope to Tottenham Hotspur, who are just a point behind them in fourth place prior to their trip to Everton on Sunday, when they will be chasing a fourth successive league win.
Without the England worldwide, as well as a number of other players due to injury, the Gunners have still managed to seal top spot heading into 2016.
Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott believes team-mate Mesut Ozil is playing the best football of his career. Next time I can help by putting them in! We rest him a lot between the games.
“Mesut is just in the form of his life, he is just a special player”.
“Some of the things you see on the pitch, his goal against Bournemouth alone, he didn’t break stride and it was like he was jogging, he just slows things down when he is playing”.
‘When you come into a new team and environment you need to get the balance right but everyone knows his strengths now and he is really fitting in’. “If things go well, they have a bunch of young players”.
