Arsene Wenger rejects Alexis Sanchez clash claims
He deflected questions about Sanchez leaving the club in the summer after the falling out, and said he was not answerable to player power.
Wenger had said Sanchez “sometimes has excessive behaviours” due to his commitment, but insisted the interpretation of this was dependent on results.
“I have no regrets”.
– Finally, the Daily Star go peak Daily Star with the following headline on Google: “Alexis Sanchez: Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool to bid for Arsenal star”. A decision like that is not easy to make.
“I don’t deny Alexis Sanchez is a great player”. They want him to score more goals.
Former Barcelona forward Sanchez took a full part in training yesterday at Arsenal’s London Colney base, after which he quoted English writer and poet GK Chesterton in a message on his Instagram page.
But Georginio Wijnaldum had the last laugh, finishing off a counter attack in extra time to smother Arsenal’s hopes of a comeback. I think it would be fair to suggest that given the pleas for Sanchez to stay, the Chilean forward now holds Arsenal by the scruff of the neck.
Arsenal almost found a way back in early in the second half when Giroud forced Simon Mignolet into a sublime save with a powerful header from the centre of the box, the Liverpool goalkeeper palming the ball against the crossbar before collecting it.
His words also followed on from skipper Per Mertesacker’s demand that Arsenal need to show “a different face” and that they are ready for a fight. That for me is a much more rational explanation than all the rest.
Do YOU want to write for GiveMeSport? The decision did not sit well with Sanchez, and while Wenger is believed to have had his reasons, the relationship between the pair took a significant blow. What I call direct is that the goalkeeper kicks straight to his strikers.
Wenger said he had yet to decide whether Sanchez would start against Bayern at the Emirates Stadium.
‘He’s been taking some criticism himself and the team. We had good situations on corners where we didn’t do very well on the delivery. You have more pressure in the bigger games than the smaller ones and we deliver in the bigger games. “It is always possible that you will not win but it is the way you play the game”, he added.
“But there was a point in the week that we had to finish with the Leicester game”.
Wenger dropped Sanchez for the sake of team harmony and as a punishment for abandoning an important training session.
“We are the roller coaster”. I am sure he will only get better with time. I understand you have to fill newspapers. On Thursday, I would have said maybe. We are not at a political club here, we are judged on performance.
