Arsene Wenger says big fees prevent cut in ticket prices
Supporters bodies have called on clubs to use that windfall to lower ticket prices for match-going fans, with Arsenal criticised after it emerged their priciest matchday ticket and season ticket were the most expensive in the league.
Disgruntlement among Arsenal fans has spread to those at Liverpool following the announcement that some tickets in the new stand at Anfield will cost as much as £77, but Wenger says that quality players aren’t getting any cheaper. I am sure that soon the £100m target will be easy to reach.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the financial strength of the Chinese Super League (CSL) could prove to be a problem for the Premier League.
Olivier Giroud says he and his Arsenal team-mates need to sharpen up in front of goal to get their Premier League title tilt back on track.
Players like Jackson Martinez, Ramires and former Arsenal player Gervinho have all made big-money moves to the Chinese Super League in January, and Wenger said China’s wealth could pose a long-term threat to the European leagues.
“I don’t know how deep the desire in China is, but if it’s a very strong political desire, we should worry”, he said.
He told his weekly press conference: “We are a company who on one side people want you to buy more players; the prices of players goes up so we need to supplement the ability to buy new players”.
‘The pressure on spending will become even greater and you cannot always distribute the money to other people’. They have the economic power.
Wenger has bought just two senior players in the past two transfer windows, signing goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea in the summer and bringing in midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel last month.
