Artemi Panarin: Artemi Panarin has 3-point night against EDM
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) – Marian Hossa scored 1:08 into overtime, Artemi Panarin had a goal and two assists and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 on Wednesday night for their third consecutive victory.
Instead of talking about his goal, Hossa wanted to talk about Crawford’s save. “We’ve got to play well on this road trip and prove we can play the same way”.
“I figured that this season I had a few breakaways that weren’t successful so things weren’t working and we were going from left to right. He came in on a breakaway and he made a very good shot, put it top shelf there, so credit to him”. He leads the National Hockey League with 13 goals and 30 points. Hossa looked to extend the lead to 2-0 on a breakaway moments later, but was denied. In nine games since being called up from the Oiler’s AHL affiliate in Bakersfield, Calif., Draisaitl has 14 points. “He’s very evasive. He’s got vision and hands at the same time”.
The Blackhawks are 2-5-0 on the road and allow an average of 3.3 goals there – 1.4 more than at home – but head into their annual circus trip feeling confident.
Keith opened the scoring with a power-play goal in the second by redirecting Kane’s feed past Nilsson.
Taylor Hall was shut out against the Blackhawks but has two goals and two assists in three games since. Nilsson slid across his crease to make an outstanding save on Kane.
Jordan Eberle is one of those players who received a day off from practice Monday but should be ready. It was just the Hawks’ fifth shot of the game.
Winger Lauri Korpikoski will return to the Oilers lineup after missing eight games with an undisclosed injury. He played 5:33. He left on the team bus with the Blackhawks after the game. “But that doesn’t happen”, said Oilers head coach Todd McLellan.
Edmonton clawed back shortly after. The Oilers sent LW Luke Gazdic (illness) to injured reserve…. There was plenty of talk about the Oilers playing meaningful games into March and April, but if they can’t post a. 500 record over the next month then it could be another lost season in Oil Country.
Unless the Blackhawks and Oilers meet in the playoffs, Wednesday’s game will mark Chicago’s final visit to Rexall Place. The Oilers will move into Rogers Place for the 2016-17 season….
Duncan Keith and Andrew Shaw also scored for the Blackhawks.
