Arun Jaitley Says, Arvind Kejriwal’s Statement ‘Absolute Rubbish’
The DDCA scam which is within the centre of the newest confrontation between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the NDA authorities at the Centre pertains to the alleged improper doings by the senior officers of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) which is headed by senior BJP chief and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
“Arun Jaitley is involved in the corruption in DDCA”, AAP’s Kumar Vishwas told the media here.
“That is what we stating that the DDCA is along with Arun Jaitley and vice-versa.’ The DDCA had yesterday rejected the Congress Pary’s allegations of “gross financial irregularities” against incumbent Finance Minister and its former president Arun Jaitley, saying that such charges were ‘absolutely rubbish”.
Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party reiterated that the CBI did raid Kejriwal’s office on Tuesday while targeting his Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar as it was looking for files related to the DDCA.
Among these, they said a budget of Rs 24 crore was approved to construct a cricket stadium but Rs 114 crore was spent.
Jaitley had dismissed his claims as “absolute rubbish” but he was not available immediately to react to the Congress charges.
AAP Spokesperson Deepak Bajpai said that the party will hold a press conference tomorrow where it will expose “massive corruption” in DDCA. “The Delhi government is initiating a probe into this matter”, he said.
Mr. Azad said since all the first class investigation agencies – Enforcement Directorate, Revenue Intelligence, Serious Fraud Investigation Office – directly report to Mr. Jaitley, only a “joint parliamentary committee” can investigate this matter impartially.
“What is the specific allegation?”
He said CBI officials kept reading the DDCA file in his office. “If they want his resignation, they can take to the roads and demand it. But there is no point asking for his resignation in the Parliament”, he added. “How can we expect a fair probe when Jaitely himself is the Finance Minister”, Maken asked.
Mr Jaitley was the president of the DDCA for 13 years till December, 2013.
The AAP leaders said acting on a communication dated July 27 from Union Sports Ministry, the Delhi government initiated a probe into irregularities in DDCA. They alleged that Jaitley had turned DDCA into “an exclusive club of elites and had institutionalised corruption”.
Writing in a blog posted on Facebook, Jaitley said Kejriwal “seems to believe in untruth and defamation, delivered in a language that borders on hysteria”.
