As Trump rises, Clinton preaches love and kindness

What’s most terrifying to me about the success of Trump’s cynical, divisive strategy is that it mirrors trends in public opinion that began in the 1970s under Richard Nixon’s so-called Southern strategy.

It isn’t a surprise that Republicans would meet to try to rig their own convention, but as long as Donald Trump is around, the GOP looks sure to lose.
You might not have noticed it, because by Monday afternoon Trump had put out a bombshell of a statement calling for a ban on entry into the United States of any and all Muslims until the government “figures out what the hell is going on”.
At the same time, Republicans are annoyed that Trump also in recent days suggested he might run as an independent candidate despite his previous pledge not to quit the party.
Clinton additionally inspires high enthusiasm among likely Democratic voters nationwide, pollsters found. About 76 percent say they are excited or optimistic about a potential Clinton administration. The first way Trump has accomplished is by promising to personally finance the majority of his general election campaign.
