ASMSU to bring Bernie Sanders to Breslin Center
“There is a political revolution brewing in this country, and I can feel it right here in Austin today”, said Sanders, who describes himself as a Democratic socialist. Karen and Joe Warkentine, a couple who drove from Greeley to hear Sanders speak, said they are fans of many of his policies, including universal healthcare. “We will defeat Trump because the American people do not want a president who insults Mexicans, Muslims, who insults women, African Americans, veterans, and basically anybody who is not like Donald Trump”.
Sanders is not expected to beat former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Texas, but he has been closing his once-massive deficit, thanks in part to a more aggressive voter outreach effort.
Sanders’ visit to Texas took place a day after early voting ended for the Texas primary, a vote he lost to Clinton by 10 points, according to a University of Texas poll.
Sanders is in Austin to kick off his “Future to Believe in Austin Rally”.

“I’m disabled from health issues”, Gray said.
He said his campaign is grassroots, and funded by the people. She sits down – a good supporter of her husband.
But Turner, a marketing specialist at a company with ties to the oil and gas industry, also supports Sanders’ stance on fracking.
