Assam will recreate Bihar: Rahul Gandhi
Asking the party workers to unite and fight the next year’s assembly polls, Rahul said, ” All the good works in last 15 years will be undone, violence will be back if congress does not come to power in Assam”.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “champion of disharmony” and a “person of false promises”.
Further, the Chief Minister dared Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to come out with facts and figures on the development works he carried out in the sports arena and also in skill development when he held that portfolio.
Referring to the Bihar Assembly elections, the Congress leader said, “Modi went to Bihar and made promises about bringing development there… made empty promises”. But what was common in his speeches was the promise to bring back black money, and employment generation, Gandhi said.
While terming the BJP as a communal force, the Congress leader maintained that his party only believes in the development plank and prosperity of the poor.
On other hand, the Congress vice president said that, the Congress party is very concerned to implement the Assam Accord which was signed by his father and former Prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. “We have just defeated our opponents in Bihar and we are going to do the same in Assam”, Rahul said’. “The special category status of states like Assam has been withdrawn”, he added.
Rahul arrived here on Friday afternoon and first had an hour-long interaction with rural women entrepreneurs of the state where he promised more empowerment.
He said that “15 years back, there was violence in Assam when people were killed, mothers and sisters cried, tears flowed, there was bloodbath”. It empowers women in Assam. “He makes promises every 10th day”. He said the party has full confidence in the leadership of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and the chief minister and only they would decide about any alliance with any political parties in Assam.
