ASU named military-friendly school
For the fourth consecutive year, Penn State York has been named a Military Friendly School by Victory Media.
The Military Friendly® Employers designation process includes extensive research and a data-driven survey of companies with annual revenue over $100 million nationwide; the Top 100 Military Friendly® Employers list includes companies with annual revenue over $500 million. Now in its 13th year for companies and seventh year for post-secondary schools, Victory Media’s Military Friendly® ratings recognize colleges and companies with leading programs for veterans, members of the Armed Forces leaving military service and military spouses.
Institutions competed for the elite Military Friendly School title by completing a survey of over 100 questions covering 10 categories, including military support on campus, graduation and employment outcomes, and military spouse policies. The methodology used for making the Military Friendly® Schools list has changed the student veteran landscape to one much more transparent, and has played a significant role over the past seven years in capturing and advancing best practices to support military students across the country.
“TEKsystems is dedicated to helping veterans transition to successful civilian careers, and to supporting guard and reserve members’ military and professional lives”, says TEKsystems Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Michelle Webb.
Survey responses were scored against benchmarks, with results independently tested by EY (Ernst & Young) based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media and its independent Advisory Board.
Appalachian has been designated a Military Friendly School® by Victory Media since 2010. In naming colleges and universities to the top 20 percent list, educators and U.S. Veterans Affairs department (VA) officials examined how colleges award credit, degrees and certificates; provide installation and base support to veterans; offer financial assistance, flexibility, support services and social outlets; and accreditation. “They’re moving the needle beyond “why recruit military” to translating military competencies into training and positive employment after graduation”. The Career Development Center assists student veterans with career planning and veteran’s preference programs.
KeyBank will be showcased along with other 2016 Military Friendly® Employers in the December issue of G.I. Victory’s free, data-driven lists are open for all schools who wish to participate.
