At least 11 killed in Georgia storms

The weather service in Birmingham said it was becoming increasingly concerned about the potential for tornadoes south of the U.S. Highway 80-Interstate 85 corridor with this morning’s storms and upgraded its threat level for that area to “significant”. His home started shaking violently. “I guess I picked a good time to go to the bathroom”. Over a four-day period surrounding President Trump’s Inauguration Day almost 20 people were killed (he offered condolences), 605 severe warnings were issued by the NWS and 447 storm reports (unfiltered) were filed in the southeastern U.S.
“The total debris clean-up will be weeks at this point”, said Lee Smithson, of the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. County Coroner Tim Purvis said Sunday morning that seven people were found dead at a mobile home park struck by an apparent tornado.
Early this morning, forecasters with the Weather Service said they had only received a few reports of minor damage from Sunday night’s storms.
Update: At 8:41 a.m. the Weather Service expanded the tornado warning to include all of Lee County, including the entire city of Auburn.
The latest three deaths occurred late last night in Dougherty County where Albany is located. It was so big parts of it threatened the Carolinas and north Florida.
United States President Donald Trump on Sunday called the storm “vicious and powerful and strong” and told reporters that he had offered his condolences to Georgia Governor Nathan Deal. Some people are also reported missing, according to Adel Mayor Buddy Duke. Of that, 30 were reported in Georgia, four in MS, and one each in Louisiana and SC.
But January tornado outbreaks aren’t unheard of.
