AT&T plans to offer gigabit internet service in 38 more metropolitan areas
“Access to ultra-fast Internet networks gives communities a competitive advantage”, Gov Mary Fallin said in a statement. But in areas where there’s no Google Fiber pressure, AT&T’s base price for gigabit service starts at $110 to $120 a month. With the announcement, the company rolled out the service in Los Angeles and West Palm Beach. “At AT&T, we are committed to innovation and bringing cutting-edge technologies, services, and products that provide opportunities for enhancements in all segments of our economy – education, health, research and business”. Customers get faster Wi-Fi speeds, expanded coverage and support for all of their devices. Customers can watch the programming they love, live or On Demand and experience it on nearly any screen. “We will share more once we are closer to launching service in a metro”. AT&T said the service would be available to homes, apartments and small businesses. The analyst firm praised AT&T for its “aggressive pursuit of higher bandwidth access” for customers through its AT&T GigaPower network initiative.
AT&T’s gigabit Internet was first launched in Austin in 2013.
GigaPower launched almost two years ago and now serves more than 1 million locations.
