Atlanta Hawks sign Jason Richardson to non-guaranteed contract
Jason Richardson will soon have a new home. Richardson is firmly off the fantasy radar.
Jason Richardson will sign a non-guaranteed deal to join the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. Spears says that Richardson will be given a chance to compete for a spot on the regular season roster during training camp.
A Saginaw native and former Michigan State star, Richardson spent the past three years with the Philadephia 76ers, but he played in only 52 games while battling a knee injury. The shooting guard averaged 9.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and two assists while shooting 34.8 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from beyond the arc in 21.9 minutes per game. He was a household name with the Warriors as he was known as a ferocious dunker, winning the Sprite Slam Dunk contest in 2002 and 2003. He played just 33 games in the 2012-13 season before being forced to undergo knee surgery, and then proceeded to miss the following season with a stress fracture in his foot. The Hawks have been labeled as one of the most dominant teams from the three-point line in the National Basketball Association, and if Richardson stays healthy, that may also be an x-factor to his success in Atlanta.
He has played for Golden State, Charlotte, Phoenix, Orlando and Philadelphia during his career.
