‘Atlanta’s Zazie Beetz lands Domino’s role in ‘Deadpool 2’
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Deadpool 2” star and co-producer Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to share that “Atlanta” star, Zazie Beetz will be joining the cast as Domino. Best known as Vanessa on Donald Glover’s hit FX series Atlanta, the German-born actress has also been seen in the Netflix show Easy and a smattering of films and other TV programs.
Golden Globe nominee Ryan Reynolds – who portrays Wade Wilson/Deadpool – made the official announcement Thursday to his 18.3M social media followers. That is until you look a little closer at the dominoes and realize that the middle rows spell out the name, “Zazie Beetz”.
Domino (Neena Thurman) is a member of the X-Men offshoot X-Force. Domino also has a long history with time traveling Mutant Nathan Summers, aka Cable.
Director David Leitch will helm Deadpool 2, while screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will pen the script.
The Marvel Universe is adding a new face to its alternative world character line-up and we’re all smiles about it. Domino first appeared in X-Force #8 in 1992.
The sequel still has no release date, and we don’t know if Cable and Domino will be friends or foes to Deadpool. Pictured: Beetz arrives at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California on January 8, 2017.
Few details have been revealed about the plot of Deadpool 2, but if we were the betting type we’d put money on Beetz returning down the line for the X-Force movie now in development.
