Attacker shouts ‘Allahu Akhbar,’ wounds 2 police in Belgium
Two female police officers have been wounded in Belgium by a man wielding a machete who shouted “Allahu Akbar”.

One of the two police, both of whom were described as experienced law enforcement officers, received several deep slashing cuts to the face, Quinaux said.

The attack happened in the city of Charleroi, and comes just a few months after co-ordinated terror attacks in Brussels which left 35 dead. “We are following the situation closely”.
Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Jan Jambon called the attack a “heinous act” and offered his support to the victims in a tweet. However, he was later reported by state broadcaster VTM to have died from his injuries. Police in Charleroi posted on Twitter that the two officers were “out of danger”.
Police have not released any information on the condition of the attacker – other than to say “he is alive”.
Police also said in January that some of the men involved in the November 13 Paris attacks used an apartment in Charleroi to plot their assaults.
A police officer reached by telephone declined to make further comments.
Brussels was hit March 22 by suicide bombings that killed 32 people at Brussels Airport and in the Brussels subway.
