Attempted home invasion leaves Surrey teen ’emotionally distraught’
RCMP are hunting for a man suspected of trying to force his way into the home of a 15-year-old girl in Surrey on Friday.
On November 9 at 6:25 p.m. two on-duty Surrey RCMP plainclothes officers had stopped in the area of 71 Avenue and 135 Street in an unmarked police vehicle when they were approached by a male who had unsavoury plans for the auto and its occupants.
A Penticton man is in police custody following an alleged attempted carjacking.
A minor struggle ensued, and she called out for help.
Schumann said “officers will be canvassing the area for any video surveillance and additional witnesses”.
The girl wasn’t physically hurt but is emotionally distraught.
When police arrived they found a man in his early 20s with a “serious gash to his chest”, said a police press release.
“We do not believe this to be a random act and as a result have taken steps to ensure the victim’s safety out of an abundance of caution”, says Cpl.
Schumann says the suspect got the ride he wanted, but probably not to the location he was planning. At the time of the incident he was wearing a long sleeved black jacket with blue jeans and sandals.
“She is described as 5’2” and 100 pounds and is possibly driving a 2013 Honda Civic with license plate 664 XRH.
