Israeli security forces have shot dead a suspected Palestinian attacker near a settlement in the West Bank.

Another Palestinian attempted to attack an officer with a pickaxe at a crossing point in the north-eastern West Bank, but was shot dead by a bullet to the head by the officer, the spokeswoman said. Last month, Israel renewed a policy of demolishing homes of Palestinians accused of carrying out deadly attacks.
A major operation involving the occupation forces from different four IOF brigades in Hizme, southeast of Ramallah, uncovered large number of weapons hidden in Palestinian homes, including three rifles, ammunition, military equipment, daggers, knives and written materials containing incitement to terror attacks, the IOF said.
