Attendees at North Korean air show wowed by model F-16
North Korea has said it’s beefing up its nuclear program, and the country recently completed its fifth nuclear test. In his General Assembly speech on Thursday, South Korea’s Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se accused North Korea of “totally ridiculing” the United Nations through its nuclear and missile tests and said it was time to reconsider whether it was qualified for U.N. membership.
The move, said Mr Han, is part of the “Korea Massive Punishment and Retaliation” (KMPR) plan, a military response announced after North Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test on Sept 9, in defiance of global sanctions.
Demand has been growing for much tougher punitive measures against the North which shows no signs of giving up its nuclear development program. The U.S. flew two B-1 bombers over the peninsula with South Korean fighter jets by its side Wednesday, while the South Korean Department of Defense announced plans to conduct a mock attack on a nuclear facility with the U.S.in Alaska next month.
In response, the Seoul government retorted the next day that any provocation will be met with “stern and strong” retaliation. Also on that day, the USA and South Korea will begin another joint military drill. “The United States will have to face tremendous consequences beyond imagination”.
Japan and South Korea used their addresses at the General Assembly this week to raise alarm bells over the threat from North Korea. It’s a three-part system that also includes anti-missile and “pre-emptive strike” systems.
Our own sources further said, at least 800 plus members of the South Korean elite troops, both male and female, are ready to go into “action” by penetrating inside DPRK through land and waterways. He called the North a “serial offender”.
“As long as there exists a nuclear weapon state in hostile relations with (North Korea), our national security and the peace on the Korean peninsula can be defended only with reliable nuclear deterrence”.
“Therefore, I believe that it is high time to seriously consider whether North Korea is qualified to be a peace-loving United Nations member, as many countries are already questioning”, he added.
“Not presenting that to the president, not training for it and having that capability would be a mistake”.
North Korea on October 10 marks the 71st anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party.
