Auburn falls to Texas A&M in SEC opener
Times appear to be changing.
Trevor Knight passed for 247 yards and Daniel LaCamera kicked five field goals to lead Texas A&M past Auburn. The defense produced four sacks and 13 tackles for loss.

The Tigers’ fourth-year coach will face perhaps the biggest game of his coaching career as Auburn hosts LSU (2-1) next Saturday.
A exhausted Auburn defense allowed Trayveon Williams to score on an 89-yard late in the game, but that wasn’t indicative of how the group played for 3 1/2 quarters.
They are looking to avoid another late-season collapse.
“I wasn’t happy with how we finished the game”, Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin said.
Auburn, Ala. -Auburn has an opportunity to open its SEC football schedule with a win and pick up a victory over a nationally-ranked opponent on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Defenses were on center stage for much of the night, but the Aggies mounted three scoring drives in the second quarter to take control.
Knight set up the Aggies first touchdowns with a 51-yard bomb to Rickey Seals-Jones down to Auburn’s 7-yard line.
Texas A&M had 478 yards of offense didn’t turn the ball over. Auburn’s Daniel Carlson countered with one of 37 yards.
Auburn moved the length of the field in less than two and a half minutes. We had some negative plays, got behind the chains.
Auburn couldn’t cash in on defensive stops with any points in the third quarter.
The Aggies went up 29-10 two plays later after Williams went the distance. The Tigers did rush for 236 yards after piling up 462 against Arkansas State.
Auburn was the only SEC West team to hold Myles Garrett without a sack in his first two seasons. “We got to do a better job of staying ahead of the chains and get in some third-and-shorts”. “We’ve got to improve there”.
“We’ll talk about things next week”.
Kamryn Pettway rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown while Kerryon Johnson had 64 yards on 15 attempts and a touchdown.
Gus Malzahn made some questionable play-calling decisions, like Chandler Cox taking the snap and pirouetting and Franklin throwing the ball downfield on a trick play to no one, except Texas A&M double coverage. Pettway waltzed in from the 1-yard-line for the game’s first touchdown midway through the first quarter. A&M takes the lead, 10-7. Two plays later the Oklahoma transfer found Reynolds in the end zone. LaCamera kicked another field goal in the fourth to make it 22-10.
Knight hit Speedy Noel later in the half for a 40-gain that helped put Texas A&M in field goal range.
