Auburn Tigers vs. Ole Miss

Whether that was related to the drubbing at the hands of the Tigers or was scheduled to go out on Saturday no matter what remains to be seen, but the Rebels are definitely getting a new head coach this offseason. After the team got walloped on Saturday, a job opening for the head coaching position at the school was posted online.

Ole Miss finally returns to Oxford after a three-game roadtrip, facing Vanderbilt (3-3, 0-3). There are some weekends required as a college football coach. Despite a game plan that was clearly geared toward loading the box, the shifty back came close time after time to spinning out of a hit and breaking off a big one. “We’re expecting their best and that’s our approach”.

Auburn had been the only FBS team nationally that hadn’t allowed 14 points this season. Johnson has found the end zone 12 times this season.

“When you get 28 carries and the blocking is that good, it’s pretty easy to get up to 200”, Johnson said. “And it’s hard to keep up with 50 points”.

The defense also showed life in the second half, forcing three-and-outs in the Tigers first two offensive possessions. Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham has only 12 incompletions in the last three games. The sophomore finished the day having completed 14 of 21 passes for 234 yards with two touchdowns. Kerryon Johnson and the Auburn offensive line had their way with the Ole Miss defense.

The closer it gets to November 25, the more it’s looking like this year’s Iron Bowl could be the most significant one since the Auburn “Got a Second” Tigers upset Alabama 34-28 en route to their second national title appearance in four years. Pettway played some against the Bulldogs and lost a fumble.

“We held Kam Pettway out because we’re going to try to get him healthy”, Malzahn said.

Ole Miss drops their 3rd straight game.

“I love playing there”, he said. Running back Zach Moss recorded just 79 yards and the Utes’ lone touchdown but was mostly a non-factor down the stretch as the team played from behind. “But he’s definitely familiar”.

Ole Miss, which ranked last in American in rushing this week, gained 83 yards on the ground.

Ole Miss leveled the series with the win as the Rebels and Tigers have now won 10 matches apiece while drawing four in their 24 meetings all-time.

EARLY KICK: With the game kicking off at 11 a.m. CT, the Rebels opted to fly to Alabama on Thursday.

Johnson said he is 95 percent recovered.
