Audi R8 Spyder Spied Testing
As expected, the bulk of the changes are being made to the rear of the vehicle, but it doesn’t appear to be all that different than the rear-end styling of the current 2014 – 1015 Audi R8 Spyder , including the side buttresses on the soft top and the vented engine cover.
You probably already knew the 2017 Audi R8 Spyder was on its way, but until now, photos of the impending drop top supercar had yet to surface. Besides, most Spyders are sold in warmer climes, where the roof will be mostly folded away and the urgent tin-top, traffic-light acrobatics offered by a folding hard top are less essential.
At the front, everything of the following R8 Spyder prototype looks just like the coupe.
And if it mirrors the coupe range, the R8 Spyder V10 Plus model should bang out cheek-rippling 449kW and 560Nm of torque.
Other than the new roof and possibly some additional strengthening of the body-the outgoing R8 Spyder was around 200 pounds heavier than the coupe because of structural reinforcements-the new R8 Spyder should be much the same as its coupe sibling. So, there should be a dry-sump dual-injection 5.2-litre V10, positioned behind the driver and passenger, which is connected to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Fitted with the V10 Plus’ motor, the second-generation coupe can brush off the 0-100km/h standard in 3.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 330km/h.
