Audi S8 Plus Is A Great Replacement For The RS8
This is a jaw-dropping upgrade of the “standard” S8 boasting power boosted by 85PS to a staggering 605PS only matched by a whopping 750Nm of torque – the highest output of any Audi in the current model range.
Audi and Quattro GmbH bundled their expertise in engine development to attain these top figures.
“Plus” is an apt addition, because an extra 63kW of power and up to 100Nm of torque have been found in the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that powers the S8 we’ve seen for a couple of years now.
Driving all wheels via an eight-speed automatic, standstill to 100km/h is reached in 3.8 seconds, three-tenths faster than a non-plus S8. In Germany, the auto comes with 21-inch wheels that were specially designed for the S8 plus and size 275/35 tires. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 kph but can be optionally extended up to 305 kph. Upon choosing the optional dynamic package, top speed increases to 189mph, and fade-resistant carbon-fibre reinforced ceramic brakes are added, featuring brake calipers finished in anthracite-grey with the Audi ceramic logo. It gives the S8 plus an unmistakably sporty V8 sound characteristic.
2016 Audi S8 Plus, a new top-end variant of the A8 series, has been unveiled ahead of its global sales debut in November. Distinctive design characteristics of the S8 plus also include darkened tail lights and a rear lip spoiler in body colour.
The side mirror housings are in your choice of carbon fibre or gloss black, while the grille, side air-inlet radiator honeycombs and window trim strips are all finished in gloss black.
Inside, the black full-leather upholstery is accented by Arras red stitching and seat piping, while the headliner and rear parcel shelf are covered in Alcantara.
The standard dual-branch sports exhaust system opens out into two oval high-gloss black tailpipes on the left and right. However, if S8 plus buyers want to stay on the down-low, they can opt for the regular S8’s styling.
Subtle S8 logos adorn the front and rear with V8 T badges on the front wings. An exclusive matt paint job called Floret Silver is exclusive to the hopped-up version of Audi’s flagship sports sedan. All of the colours offered on the S8 are also offered for the S8 plus.
The headlights feature Matrix LED technology as standard equipment in Germany; they come with dynamic turn signals.
