Aulas confident Lacazette will be at Lyon for some time
We have been linked with Lacazette frequently over the past year, but dropped our interest when he signed a new contract in the summer, as The Express reports.
On the other hand relegation threatened Newcastle United are desperate for goals to starve off relegation fears, with Steve McClaren’s side failing to score in their last three league outings.
Olympique Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has recently personally turned down an offer by a Premier League club, after their bid of 22 Million pounds was accepted by the Lyon management.
They are not likely to be put off by Lyon’s reported £23m price tag – a fair one based on Lacazette’s potential – so we must act fast otherwise we risk missing out.
However, Newcastle officials are hopeful of being able to persuade Wolfsburg to do business, and having being angling for a fee of around £9m in the summer, there is an acceptance they might have to go slightly higher to land Dost this month.
The France international’s struggles this season had led some to suggest Lyon would cash in on their star asset, but Aulas insists Lyon are not looking to part ways with the highly rated 24-year-old anytime soon.
Lacazette has developed into an integral member of Les Gones’ squad, and he ended last season as Ligue 1’s top scorer with 27 goals in 33 appearances.
There is a very real chance he will move on this summer, with Lyon particularly disappointing this season, now in ninth position in the table.
Newcastle defender Mike Williamson is attracting interest from Sheffield Wednesday, with reports of a £250,000 bid being enough to seal a deal.
