Aussie Jason Day eyes more success after Open
I putted today, but I haven’t played the full course.
But it wasn’t impossible, especially for those who finished before the sun dried out the course.
Coverage of the RBC Canadian Open is being shown on the Golf Channel, PGATour.com and CBS Sports. It feels better than I thought it would at this point, to be honest, and my game has come back fairly quickly.
From Scotland to Canada, the PGA Tour returns to North America for the RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville, Ontario.
Retief Goosen ($8,000) – Goosen is priced higher than normal after coming off of a T20 last week. Extremely special day, and I’m ready to go.
Some players will pull out in the next day or so as they decide they’re too exhausted from a long British Open, and we’ll update these rankings if players on our initial list withdraw.
Several Canadians will still take part, including PGA Tour rookies Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor, both natives of Abbotsford, B.C.
Golf Canada CEO Scott Simmons said the organization had to close the gates and stop selling tickets at Glen Abbey twice: when Tiger Woods was at his peak and won in 2000 and then when Weir had the Sunday lead in 2004. It has been 61 years since it last happened when Pat Fletcher claimed victory in Vancouver all the way back in 1954.

The Canadian Open has been around for over a century and in that span, 37 different courses have played host. McLaughlin, who is also running the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open at Vancouver Country Club next month, pointed to infrastructure as one positive of staying in the same place. His last three tournaments including the British Open have been T12, T7, T7. The Canadian Open, back at Glen Abbey for the 27th time, is a more predictable style of game. He missed the cut in 2013, but in 2009 he finished T24.
“It’s been a struggle the last few years so, definitely, I feel like I’m heading in the right direction with a little better play”, he said of his game.
McDowell has not been in the best of form but he made eight birdies in his third round at St Andrews and said afterwards that he’s finally started to turn the corner after a hard spring and early summer. He spent the day after the surprising win touring the Claret Jug around London, where he also has a home, which meant he missed the charter jet that Golf Canada uses to shuttle players across the Atlantic in comfort.
Golfers at the Canadian Open should put away their umbrellas and grab their sunscreen.
