Austin Seferian-Jenkins: Out 4-6 weeks with shoulder strain
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins has reportedly suffered a shoulder strain that will keep him out of the lineup for the next four to six weeks.
Well, there goes Jameis Winston’s security blanket.
Seferian-Jenkins, who is getting a second opinion, suffered the injury during the Bucs’ 26-19 victory against New Orleans on Sunday. Yesterday in his day after game press conference Bucs Head Coach Lovie Smith mentioned that Seferian-Jenkins had a should injury but didn’t elaborate on the severity of it. So far this season, Winston has targeted Seferian-Jenkins 10 times. While his performance as a run-blocker has been up-and-down at best, he’s been Jameis Winston’s primary receiving target this season, catching seven of ten targets for 139 yards and two touchdowns. More importantly, he’s grabbed two touchdowns.
The Bucs telegraphed Tuesday that Seferian-Jenkins’ injury might be more serious than initially thought when they signed tight end Cameron Brate off the Saints’ practice squad.
Receiver Mike Evans didn’t play in the first game against Tennessee due to a hamstring issue, and while active for the Saints game, he didn’t catch a ball. He was targeted just three times.
Adam Schefter of ESPN first broke the news Tuesday afternoon, tweeting that a source told him Seferian-Jenkins could miss four to six weeks.
