Australia ‘A’ captain Usman Khawaja alleges Sanju Samson spat on his players
An enterprising Gurkeerat Singh (87 n.o, 7×4, 2×6), in the company of Sanju Samson 24 (1×4), shared an unbeaten seven-wicket stand of 87 to orchestrate the four-wicket win.
Khawaja claimed the animosity between the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman and the Australians started in their August 7 clash when Samson tried to claim a catch that replays showed fell short. There has been no action taken against Samson yet. “Today, it would have died down quicker but he proceeded to spit in front of our player’s foot three times”, Khawaja said, adding they wouldn’t complain to the match referee. “If you do this the boys are going to get labored up and the umpires weren’t understanding it. We did attempt to calm the boys, however they only went on and on”, a dejected Khawaja stated within the submit-match convention.
“I am happy if the batsmen happen to talk back but spitting is not on”. After returning figures of 2-41 with his off-spin bowling, Gurkeerat produced some magic with the bat as well to rescue the hosts from a precarious position.
Khawaja, however, admitted that his team had been the inferior of the two on the day, saying that Gurkeerat’s innings was the difference between the two teams.
“I don’t want to make a big deal about things that happened on the field”, the 28-year-old said. I do not want to take away any credit from India. “They actually performed nicely at present and have been the higher group to have gained”, he stated. “That happens sometimes and unfortunately it was today”. Some incident occurred the opposite day with one among your bowler (Sandeep Sharma). He scored runs aplenty in the limited-overs leg of the tour, finishing as the third highest with 267 runs from four visits to the crease including a century and two half-centuries, the second of which – an 88-ball 76 came in a losing cause in Friday’s final. I was proud of that.
“When Chris Lynn is involved I’m a little bit sceptical, because he’s not the one to open his mouth too much”.
“It is all the time robust to defend a complete of 220 runs”. India “A’ batted sensibly”. The wicket was up and down and it was not turning massive. “If we had a few more runs, we could have strangled them”.
Man of the Match Gurkeerat Singh, who came up with a all-round performance of 2-42 and 87 not out, though claimed ignorance in the matter, asserting that sledging is the Australians’ way of playing. They were just talking and I did not hear anything. I do not know about that.
Having won four games with three bonus points during the tournament, Australia A was the heavy favourite going into the final, but a lack of runs cost them any chance of winning. I think where we lost it was probably in the last 30 overs as we did not get partnerships. “While we always believed that we have quality talent available, with Rahul’s involvement we could create an environment where it is like a learning curve for the upcoming players apart from it being a platform to showcase their talent”, added Dalmiya. “We just decided not to look at the scoreboard and just play on the merit of the ball”.
