Australia lose five early wickets in fourth Ashes test
After England won the toss and bowled first, Broad picked up his 300th test match wicket with just the third ball of the day, dismissing Australian opener Chris Rogers for a duck – the first duck in Rogers’ test career.
Australia lead the multi-format Ashes series four points to two after winning the ODI portion of the contest 2-1.
“If someone scores a really big hundred or takes six or seven wickets to help England win the game their name will be etched in history forever”.
England secured a 61-run win in the last Women’s Ashes Test, which was played at the WACA in Perth, and will be hoping for another such performance when they head to Kent – the home county of captain Charlotte Edwards.
Stuart Broad was in sensational form taking four early wickets as Australia were reduced to an astonishing 21-5 in the first five overs of the Fourth Ashes Test. Everything he has been asked to do he’s come through with flying colours.
Peter Lalor, cricket writer for The Australian, added to Clarke’s woes by saying that failure in the fourth Test in Nottingham starting on Thursday “spells an nearly certain end to his career”.
“The criticisms of my game at the moment are deserved and I wouldn’t expect anything different, especially as the captain of the team”, he said in a column for Sydney’s Daily Telegraph.
“I hope I can have my impact in a short space of time and then be finished”.
“I think when that becomes too hard it’s time to walk away, no doubt about it. I’m 34. There’s no doubt this is my last opportunity to win an Ashes series in England“, he said.
