Australian FA announce Guus Hiddink as interim Chelsea manager… before Chelsea
Chelsea’s former assistant manager Ray Wilkins branded Hiddink “absolutely perfect” to step in and arrest the Blues’ slump between now and the end of the season.
Hiddink, however, will not assume his coaching duties against Sunderland, as he has yet to agree on a deal with the club.
This will be the second time that Hiddink will slip into the role of an interim manager at Chelsea.
Hiddink was Chelsea’s caretaker manager as well back in 2009, in which he guided the club to an FA Cup trophy.
“I want to gain some good insights on that before I make my decision”.
“Whether or not I’m visiting their next match depends on my first conversation”.
West Ham fans were delighted when the then Blues boss was sent to the stands during his side’s 2-1 loss in east London and duly mocked him for it. Now, as Gold has proven, the mocking is likely to continue for some time… “Chelsea indeed has a lousy performance and there are reasons for it”, the 69-year-old was quoted as saying by Dutch paper De Telegraaf.
“He just didn’t know how to get the club out of the mess they are in”.
Of the squad from that day only Terry and Branislav Ivanovic still remain at Stamford Bridge.
We will miss you’. His career hasn’t gone well, but he is the best man-manager I’ve ever seen.
Terry expressed his regret at Mourinho’s exit on social media on Friday morning, posting on Instagram: “Thank you doesn’t seem enough”.
“I am not surprised with (Chelsea owner) Roman Abramovich’s decision to sack Mourinho”.
“I honestly do believe the players need to take a lot of blame for this as well because they really haven’t performed”.
Check out our video above to get clued up on all things Hiddink. In between those successes, he spent time in charge at Fenerbahce, Valencia, Real Madrid and Real Betis, where his achievements were more modest, with the 1998 Intercontinental Cup with Real Madrid his only piece of silverware in that time.
