Australian man set free after being trapped in washing machine
This 22-year-old from Australia got wedged in the top loader for reasons unknown, but are probably pretty weird.
Under the direction of station officer David Cross, the crew implemented a plan to extract the patient by disassembling the washing machine, the post said.
“Upon arrival the crew was informed that the patients’ legs had been entrapped in the washing machine for at least 3 hours”, the fire crew posted online.
They had to dissect the machine carefully and stabilise the washing drum while the outer mounts of the appliance were removed.
Fire and Rescue’s Bankstown unit shared the unusual rescue story on its Facebook page, saying the man was stuck for more than three hours before help arrived.
The man remained relatively calm during the ordeal, but “was in a lot of discomfort” and suffered some understandable “cramping” after being released from the machine. His legs were stuck inside the machine up to his waist.
The whole operation took an hour, and the man was then taken to hospital to be checked over.
“Throughout the process, the patient was monitored by New South Wales”.
Perhaps the question is not how he got into the washing machine – instead ask: why?
The man’s parents called paramedics after discovering their son in the awkward and painful situation.
The man, 22, is mildly autistic, firefighters told the Sydney Morning Herald.
