The two victims are both male and still in their teens. Reports in vol.at suggest one of the victims was a 19-year-old sitting opposite the suspect who was stabbed in the stomach. Two people were taken to hospital after the attack.
In neighboring Germany, police ruled out terrorism as a motive in a stabbing and shooting attack in the western city of Cologne on Monday that left one man injured.
The knifeman was wrestled to the ground, where he was held until police could arrive.
A 22-year-old passenger who helped police suffered minor cuts to the hand.
Such attacks reflect the difficulties of policing Europe’s labyrinthine transport system, particularly against individuals with unsophisticated weapons.
Muhammad Riyad, 17, was shot dead by police as he tried to flee the scene after leaving the carriage covered in blood. All his victims survived.
