Authorities: Man killed after becoming pinned under train
A man was hit and killed by a Red Line train Monday afternoon.
When emergency crews arrived, they found a man, approximately 50-60 years old, who had been hit by a train at the Braintree side platform.
MBTA police say he accidentally stumbled onto the tracks before he was struck in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood.
Upon arrival at the scene, a recovery operation was launched in an effort to free the victim.
MBTA Transit Police interviewed apparent witnesses inside the station. The man was pinned under the inbound train for over an hour.
Train service in both directions resumed at about 4:30 p.m. MBTA officials wrote on their website that riders should continue to expect minor delays. However, the station’s turnstile concourse was completely sealed off for about ten minutes when the man’s body was removed by firefighters at 3:40 p.m.
