Authorities say 1 of 3 fugitive inmates arrested
KABC in Los Angeles is reporting that Bac Duong, one of the three inmates who escaped from the Orange County Jail last Friday is in police custody.
Bac Duong, 43, was taken into custody one week after he and two other inmates, 37-year-old Hossein Nayeri and 20-year-old Jonathan Tieu, broke out of the Santa Ana facility, Cpl.
The Sheriff with Orange County said Duong contacted a civilian and said he wanted to turn himself in.
The men escaped early January 22 after cutting a hole in a metal grate then crawling through plumbing tunnels and onto the roof of a five-story jail building. The 44-year-old Lake Forest woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of accessory to a felony in helping the inmates escape from lockup in downtown Santa Ana. Ravaghi has authored a multicultural children’s book called the “Noosh Collection”, according to her website.
Ravaghi has denied bringing any tools into the jail and the tools used in the escape have not been found, he said. Their ultimate relationship, however, “leads us to believe she played a significant role in the planning” of the escape, Hallock said. The license plate on the van is 8U66466, but Hallock said the plates may have been removed and replaced with yellow or green Felix Chevrolet paper plates. Several other arrests – for unrelated warrants or probation issues – have also taken place during the manhunt.
Authorities are still looking for the van and the other two escapees.
Investigators believe they slipped out sometime shortly after the 5 a.m. head count. Orange County Sheriff’s Department officials are expected to hold a news conference at noon to give an update at sheriff’s headquarters.

Nayeri, charged in the torture and mutilation of a California marijuana dispensary owner in 2012, has been at the jail since 2014.
