Authorities say remains of 4 people, “container of organs” found in suburban
She discovered three bodies and “other remains”, as well as headstones, police said.
Police were called to the 13900 block of South Dearborn Street at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The genders and ages of the bodies were not immediately known. “What freaked us out was the funeral casket”, said neighbor Christine Smith, who watched investigators for hours.
The medical examiner says the bodies would be examined and autopsied.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office found the bodies Wednesday night, along with a container of what appeared to be human organs and a box of cremated remains.
Investigators believe the homeowner, Anton Godfrey, who died August. 29, was “improperly storing bodies in his home garage, which were prepared for burial”, a statement from ISP said. Two years ago, the state fined Godfrey $10,000 for acting as a funeral director and embalmer without a license.
Illinois State Police said they would be releasing more information Thursday morning.
