Avril Lavigne launches campaign against Lyme disease
Just past year, Avril Lavigne was inflicted with Lyme disease causing the singer to slow down and take a break from her successful musical career.
In honor of her birthday, the 5-week campaign supports the Avril Lavigne Foundation’s work with children and young adults who are also ill with the tick-borne illness.E!
Once the campaign ends on November 9, a grand prize victor will be randomly chosen to spend time with Avril.
This year has been full of ups and downs for Avril, who split in early September from her husband, 40-year-old singer Chad Kroeger.
Avril has come out as an advocate for Lyme strugglers while she continues to get better herself and it’s quite admirable. In this light, the singer is eager to know more about others’ insights in support of the treatment of the said disease that has changed her life. “My fans are always so supportive and ready to give back; I look forward to coming together for an issue that’s so close to me”.
In a video posted on YouTube, she also thanked her fans for their support “through everything”.
In the hopes of raising awareness to help others who may be suffering from the same fate, the singer announced during her birthday last Sunday that she is now raising funds dedicated to the said goal through her Avril Lavigne Foundation. Join my campaign and you could meet me AND be featured in my latest animated film, #Charming – link in my profile! She revealed that during recovery, there were times when she couldn’t breathe, talk or move. Although the marriage is said to be over, Avril Lavigne expressed that they still care for each other despite everything they are going through right now. She was diagnosed with a severe case of Lyme disease, and at one point, thought she was dying.
