Awaken the Force within your Google apps with new Star Wars customizations
In a blog post, Clay Bavor, vice president of Product Management at Google wrote: ‘It probably isn’t a surprise that there are tons of Star Wars fans like me here at Google.
A light side (blue) or dark side (red) lightsaber will replace the standard loading bar.
Google is giving you the chance to choose your side in the epic struggle between the light and dark sides of The Force, through the medium of productivity app design. Picking either side will essentially give your entire Google account and corresponding apps a makeover in accordance to whichever side you choose, so like Google states in the promo video above, choose carefully!
Google Maps – Easily locate where you are at with an X-Wing or TIE Fighter symbol. Except for Chrome, Gmail and YouTube – which will support the changes only on the desktop – the rest of Google applications will automatically sync into and support the changes across all devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows and Chromebook.
With just twenty-six days to go before the movie hits cinemas, J.J. Abrams confirmed that The Force Awakens is finally, FINALLY finished. Also, Google Now will offer you trivia related to “this day in Star Wars history”. This is a great move for Google, and an even better way for MORE Star Wars advertising to get out there, not like we really need anymore (just kidding).
Disney announced today that in collaboration with Google, Star Wars fans will have an opportunity to share in immersive experiences-Awaken the Force Within and Google Cardboard Virtual Reality-to promote Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
