Azad’s suspension reflects Modi’s style of functioning: Congress
It said: “Because of anti-party activities, Shri Kirti Azad, Darbhanga MP, is suspended from the party with immediate effect”. The suspension order for Kirti him came from the party headquarters and a detailed communication from the Board went to him. But the action comes in the wake of allegations levelled by him on Arun Jaitley for alleged corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).
The veterans – L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shanta Kumar and Yashwant Sinha – met in New Delhi on Thursday, a day after Azad was suspended for anti-party activities. They would meet the Kirti Azad and also raise the issue in party forum.
“As you (Shah) have not mentioned DDCA corruption, I believe that the party had nothing to do with the matter and is purely out of its purview”, the former cricketer said in his letter.
In another tweet, he said, “When I filed the NH (National Herald) case the CRT (Congress Tweeple) morons tweeted that it my vendetta”. I have never targeted Jaitley ji personally.
Swamy said he “did not think the party should lose an honest person like him (Azad)”.
Kirti Azad, who is irked by his suspension on Wednesday from his own party said, “I will ring up PMO tomorrow to seek an appointment with PM Narendra Modi”. Further I will say he is still member of BJP.
In the meeting, the old guard, which had taken on the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah after the BJP suffered a humiliating defeat in the Bihar Assembly polls, felt that the battle between Azad and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was denting the party’s image. The FM has rubbishes all the allegations, and even sued Delhi Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal for calling him corrupt in the DDCA affair. BJP spokesman G.V.L. Narasimha Rao said the party acted against Azad, a three-time Lok Sabha member from Darbhanga in Bihar, for taking an “anti-BJP line”.
Azad also said that he will file a PIL in his individual capacity over the DDCA issue soon.
According to media reports, the veterans are unhappy over Azad’s suspension as they feel that the decision was taken in haste and may cause more harm to the party.
Concerned over Azad’s crusade in the alleged DDCA graft case, Amit Shah was left with no other option but to suspend him following Azad’s charges against Jaitley.
