It is not clear if Azhar will be able to rejoin the squad before the second Test against England begins.

Asif had played only 11 first-class matches, 21 List A games and nine T20 matches over a four year period before making his debut for Pakistan.

According to the regulations of the global Cricket Council, Asif is supposed to undergo an independent assessment of his bowling action within 14 days.

“From what we have seen he doesn’t appear to bend his elbow and in fact uses his wrist more with a straight arm to get purchase from the ball”.

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq spoke of his frustration over the “mismanagement” which had left him short of spinners in the first Test, which looks destined to end in a draw.

It is not confirmed, whether he will be back in time for the second Test or not.

Nevertheless, Alam is not ruling out the possibility fielding three spinners in the remaining Tests against England.

Pakistan ODI captain Azhar Ali will leave the Test squad and return home following the death of his mother-in-law.

With Yasir unavailable, Pakistan were forced to field a three-man seam attack along with Zulfiqar Babar as the sole specialist spinner in Abu Dhabi.
