Baba Ramdev slams Islamic preacher Zakir Naik
Dhaka: Bangladesh today cancelled downlink permission for Indian Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s “Peace TV”, a day after it banned the channel over reports that his “provocative” speeches encouraged some of the militants to unleash the worst terror attack in the Muslim-majority nation.
There is a press conference arranged for the preacher on Tuesday. The angry Sena said that Naik should be thrown in any cell as the Mumbai attack convict Ajmal Kasab. The Peace tv where Zakir naik is seen giving live preachings is banned.
In the wake of earlier this month’s first-ever hostage crisis in which 18 foreigners have been killed, the Bangladeshi government’s cabinet committee on law and order on Sunday chose to close down Naik’s Peace TV.
A controversial Indian Islamic televangelist, alleged by Bangladesh to have incited a terrorist involved in the Dhaka cafe attack, has denied condoning jihad.
Bangladesh government too cracked the whip and banned the channel and intelligence agencies in the Bangladesh are said to be investigating Naik.
There is no official confirmation from Naik on his return to India.
Naik was earlier named during the 2002-2003 series of Mumbai blasts.
It is normally forbidden, he said, but then said: “If the situation demands, like in Palestine … and they cause a damage to the opponent, as a last resort, with guidance from a scholar, so with guidance from the Koran, as a last resort, it can be used”. By the grace of God, I inspire millions of people around the world.
“I don’t agree with his interpretation of Quranic verses but I have never heard him promoting terrorism in any of his speeches”. Most of the clips shown on the television of myself are either out of context, half statements or doctored. At a meeting in the city on Sunday, community leaders said it was important to fight the allegations linking him to terrorism, which they claimed were being levelled by a “biased media”.
It also accused the Indian agencies of getting cold feet while taking action against Naik, though it has gone very enthusiastically after Sanatan Sanstha and others – “Makes us wonder if its not Naik’s diabolical mind working behind all this”.
The preacher has dismissed the allegations against him.
