Babies found dead in Philadelphia lot had autopsies
After he found the bodies, Kasime went home to tell his father, Ronnie Jackson, about them.
Jackson and the children returned to the scene of the grisly discovery Sunday morning and called police. Crawford told NBC10 he thought they were toys at first.
So far, the police only have one clue: a black pickup truck earlier spotted in the area apparently dumping garbage in the lot already littered with all kinds of illegally disposed trash.
The medical examiner discovered the babies “had an autopsy performed on them by unknown medical personnel at an unknown time”. A city health department spokesman, Jeff Moran, said that they could have been used for a hospital or university study.
Investigators last night also were unsure how long the bodies had been sitting in the lot before the boys found them.
Homicide detectives are investigating what happened to the baby boy and girl who were found in the Kensington neighborhood just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
He said that babies are innocent and that this was tragic.
“You shouldn’t throw little kids away”, he said. Both appeared to be a day or so old.
Jackson said he and his son noticed that the bodies were blue and had deep lacerations on their stomachs and heads.
These babies had been found in a fetal position beside the road and even had their umbilical cords attached to them. It was still unclear as to how much time has passed since they both had died.
According to Lt. Juan Perez the tots discovered in the Kensington section of Philadelphia appeared to have been “just born”.
