Baby born at scene of fatally stabbing, unclear who mother is
The baby girl was delivered moments after the bloodshed.
The mother, Angelikque Sutton, was 81/2 months pregnant and preparing for the infant’s coming on December 2.
Law enforcement have apprehended a possible person of interest in this case: 22-year old Ashley Wade, who had also been present in the building and had claimed that the child belonged to her.
A Bronx woman has been fatally stabbed and her baby was ripped from her womb, in a gruesome incident which occurred on Friday at 4450 Monticello Avenue, in the vicinity of West Fourth Street. “And the pregnant women was stabbed and strangled and the fetus was removed”, King said. “I feel if she thinks killing a person and cutting a child out of is a serious problem if they think that was okay”, King said.
“She was wrapped up and there was a lot of cops around her”, she said.
Both mother and baby were rushed to Montefiore, where Sutton died a little after 3:30 p.m.
“She [Wade] tried to sell the idea that the baby was hers and she had just given birth right there”. “I don’t know what’s going on”. “Were there any survivors?”
911 dispatchers got a third call soon after, in which a male caller claimed he had just gotten to the apartment with his brother and found the grisly scene. “She looked sad”, Williams, 57, said.
Charges against Wade were pending Friday night, as she was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation.
Sutton’s family did not comment outside the hospital, according to news reports.
The boyfriend of the suspect was with police being questioned as well, though it was unclear whether he had been present during the stabbing.
Two people are now in custody, including the baby’s father. “Usually when something like this happens the baby is dead”, a police officer said.
