Baby boy found abandoned in manger at NY church
A NY City church got a surprise donation when a newborn baby was found in the church’s Nativity Scene Monday afternoon.
A healthy, 5.2 pound infant was discovered crying in the nativity scene of a church in Richmond Hill, Queens on Monday. “I didn’t make much of it. I thought there was somebody in the church with a child”. Bishop Octavio Cisnero, also there, couldn’t believe his eyes.
Authorities said the custodian found the infant boy lying inside the manger wrapped in towels.
Inside the manger, the little boy still had his umbilical cord attached.
“He was wrapped in, for lack of a better word, swaddling clothes.”
Christopher Ryan Heanue, the parish’s 28-year-old priest, commended the woman, believed to be the mother, for her actions.
Even though NY state law allows parents to anonymously surrender babies at churches, police stations, firehouses and hospitals, the mother of “Baby Jesus” didn’t notify anyone and could face charges as a result. Moran told the NY Daily News that he was cleaning when he first heard the child cry.
A woman was caught on surveillance video at a nearby store walking in with a baby and leaving without one, according to reports. But the baby Jesus had yet to take up residence in the crèche.
“The baby was given a clean bill of health at Jamaica Hospital and was in the care of the Administration of Children’s Services Tuesday as cops try to track down the mom”. But a church in NY City temporarily had a live baby in its manager when someone abandoned a newborn baby with his umbilical cord still attached and placed him int he manger of the nativity.
The pastor of the church was on Fox News on Wednesday morning and he said that a couple that belong to his parish are very interested in adopting this baby.
